Slot 2 - Smell - Rabbi Deborah Blausten
What did Sinai smell like? And why does it matter? The relationship between smell and memory is one of humans strongest associations, and smells were how our ancestors imagined their wishes travelling to God. Smell the texts of revelation and explore the strange relationship between scent and our stories.
9.00- 10.00pm
Slot 1 - Touch - Rabbi Miriam Berger and Debbie Jacobs
Does healing come from the inside out or the outside in? Healing from the inside out or the outside in. Where does the physical start and the spiritual take us? A combination of Jewish texts and healing hands brings a new insight into both the words on the page and our own physical health.
Slot 2 - FEAST - Hannah Style
FEAST stands for 'Feeding and Empowering All Sustainably Together'. We are a small food poverty charity based in North London supporting vulnerable people with essential community meals, all made from surplus food by our compassionate volunteers. We saw a devastating rise in food poverty during the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis means we are receiving a higher volume of referrals to support those who are struggling.
Increasingly we are being asked to take on leadership positions in addressing food poverty in local areas, and are leading on research into the impact of food poverty on nutrition.
At a time when we are celebrating and reflecting and with food as such a part of our culture, we ask that you find small ways to share our sustenance beyond family and friends. Please bring a donation of dry goods to the Tikkun Leil if you can - we are truly grateful for your donations that help us expand our community.”
10.15- 11.15pm
Slot 1 - Sixth Sense - Rabbi Howard Cooper
Imagination and intuition; how do we develop our 6th sense.
Slot 2 - Sound - Chessy Weiner
The sound of our Texts. Where do the cantillation/trope marks that we use to chant Torah come from? Are there equivalent systems in other religions? In this session we’ll attempt to answer these questions by looking at Jewish and Christian methods of chanting our texts.
