Ritual Committee

Structure, Governance and Management
The committee comprising wardens, regular congregants, and clergy develops ideas to further enrich engagement in religious services and related activities.

The committee typically meets twice a year to review major religious festivals, initiatives, and ritual issues raised by the community. Over the past year we have adopted a more fluid approach in order to react to the latest implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Achievement of Objectives and Review of Activities
The Covid-19 pandemic has continued to challenge. We resumed in-person services when allowed, with suitable precautions, while continuing to include congregants joining online. Catering to both within a single service has its challenges, and this is something we are continuing to look at given the on-going situation. A number of congregants have found us online but would struggle to attend services in person.

For the High Holy Days, we were able to return to our familiar location but with a new name and a fresh twist. The main services were conducted in the fresh air of the terraces of the StoneX Stadium, with service leaders and choir under gazebos on the pitch.  A big screen video link enabled mitzvot to be carried out from the stands and enabled those without machzorim to follow the service.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all those with the creativity to break the mould and do what few if any other communities dared, and to those who gave countless hours of their time to make the dream a reality.

אֲנִי וְאַתָּה נְשַׁנֶּה אֶת הָעוֹלָם
Together we are changing the world.
