Holocaust Memorial Day Workshops

This year proved to be very challenging, due to the pandemic. It wasn’t possible for us to host students at the synagogue as we usually do, so we joined forces with Antony Lishak, CEO of the charity “Learning from the Righteous” to produce easy to access on-line resources instead. Students used these at home due to the second lockdown.

The theme of HMD 2021 was Be the Light in the Darkness and our resources included Candles of Hope and Voices of Hope (interviews with Mala Tribich and Eva Clarke, both Shoah survivors, and Michael Rosen talking about his search for missing relatives, in his new book, The Missing). These took place outside their own homes in a camper van which Antony had converted into a Covid-safe mobile studio.

Our website received over 2000 visits, and we were delighted with the response and also the feedback we received.  However, we hope to return to teaching face-to-face again very soon. We miss the students, and all our volunteers.
