Notes from our Hebrew Co-ordinator
Hebrew studies at Kochavim continued at an excellent pace this year, strongly aided by the return to in-person teaching that came in the summer term.
The challenge we faced at this point was, of course, that as some of our students had found online learning to be more challenging, we now had bigger gaps in knowledge between different groups of pupils – those who had continued to attend throughout the pandemic, regardless of whether the learning was online or in person, those who attended sometimes but not regularly online, and those who only attended when we were back in person.
Add to this the fact that all children learn at different paces and in different styles anyway, and you can imagine that our teachers faced quite a challenging situation as the year went on!
Our solution was to increase the number of teaching staff, so that we could create smaller teaching groups, and this has really been very beneficial for the students, allowing everyone to flourish as we developed challenging but achievable Hebrew sessions for them.
We also continue to acknowledge and celebrate the direct link between the Hebrew learning at Kochavim and the continuation of that learning through Ulpanim and Friday Group. We are so proud of our Hebrew teaching team, who are so committed to getting the very best out of our students.
