6th North Finchley Guides
We were thrilled to meet outdoors after a year of Zoom Guides. The Guides were incredible and upcycled, sowed seeds, and baked on Zoom - but it was wonderful to have campfires, archery and rounders over the long summer (rainy) evenings. We went camping at Chalfont Heights and enjoyed zip wire, made rope from stinging nettles, stir-fried on an open fire, and even cooked in a camp oven (eco hay box).
In September we finally returned to indoor Guides, making catapults and bath bombs. We ended the term with a trip to the Chicken Shed show and started spring by planting spider plants for Tu B’Shvat.
On Monday nights we come together at FRS from different schools, synagogues, communities, religious and cultural backgrounds, to enjoy drama, art, cooking, and sport; to learn first aid, experience Chinese New Year, Diwali, Pancake Day and Chanukah.
We unwind, laugh, and have fun, and the Guides are rewarded with lots of badges and friendship, with the oldest Guides working towards their Gold Award.
